An Epidemic Prevention of Influenza A (H1N1) During Competitions/Activities

H1N1The epidemic of Influenza A (H1N1) has been spread over the world, and Macao Health Department has announced that the emergency level of this epidemics has already reached Phase 6. In order to response to this, the medical team of the Games/activity organizing community has given some instructions to competitors, staffs and spectators to prevent these epidemics: 

  1. Make sure you have your temperature measured when you are entering the stadium.
  2. Wash your hands frequently, especially when you get into contact with your eyes, nose and mouth. Wipe your hands with alcohol gel when needed.
  3. Cover your nose and mouth with paper tissues when you sneeze or cough. Afterward you should discard them in an appropriate way.
  4. Use your own towel; and never share towels with others. Also, do not share dining utensils.
  5. Wear protective gloves when you handle anything contaminated with secretions or excretions. 
  6. Keep a balance diet and healthy lifestyle. Avoid smoking.
  7. Avoid physical contact with people who have any symptoms of flu.
  8. Make sure your room is fully ventilated and keep the surroundings clean.
  9. You should stay at home as long as the flu has become symptomatic.
  10. Wear a mask if you have a fever or any flu symptoms such as sleepiness, poor appetite, coughing, running nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea etc.. Seek for an assistant from our medical team or consult public clinics immediately, and tell the doctor if you have been any epidemic areas.
